National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management was faced with the necessity to assess the project in terms of its environmental effects and to estimate the cost. Better ability to assess these effects and estimate costs means more efficient selection of projects, which are also optimal in terms of effect and costs.

Thanks to the developed application it is possible to test and present a comparison of projects and assess their environmental effects.

During the project:

• the analysis of how projects can be compared with each other to assess whether the project is relatively cheap or relatively expensive was performed. A comparison was made of projects co-financed by NFOŚiGW.
• The issue of CO2 emission reduction was analysed, as well as the factors influencing particular project's cost

The result of the work was a prototype of an innovative Internet application displaying information about the projects co-financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, their costs and the environmental effects achieved.

The project for the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) makes it possible to better protect the environment and climate on the basis of an analysis of data collected on projects throughout Poland.

The work resulted in the creation of an innovative web application which makes it possible to spend public money in an optimal way. Its effectiveness is based on simultaneous reduction of costs and increase in potential environmental effects.
